Snake???

So my husband and I were going back to bed for a power nap this morning, and I wanted a couple of spoonfuls of peach crisp before laying down. Don’t laugh. I was peeling the Saran Wrap off the peachy deliciousness with one hand and opening the silverware drawer with the other, keeping my concentration on the plastic wrap. I started to reach my hand into the drawer and glanced down to make sure that I was going to grab a spoon when I saw a 2 foot long snake coiled on top of my freakin silverware!!! I screamed and jumped back, and my husband – who is petrified of snakes and had been standing next to me – spun around with wide eyes asking “What??” I couldn’t speak. I just pointed to the drawer and when he looked in, it reminded me of the Home Improvement episode where Tim sees the snake and yells, “Theres a SNAKE in MY house!!!” My husband slammed the drawer shut and grabbed long pliers while I kept an eye on the now pissed off snake that was retreating into the cabinet. He grabbed it with the pliers and dropped it into a trash bag that I had waiting. We went outside and released it.

I never imagined that we’d have a snake just chilling in our house. I am not going to miss this place. Freakin snakes and spiders and swarms of bees that make their nests in my Jeep. No more. I can’t handle this weird Podunk dump. I want to go home. Now.

I’m a mid 20′s housewife with 3 and a half beautiful children, and an amazing husband. I’m a jack of most trades and a master of none. I hail from an expanding New England town, just returning from a Podunk, crappy village hundreds of miles west of home.

I love photography, though, I haven’t had the energy to pick up my camera very much since becoming pregnant with our baby. It is said that musicians often become photographers because it’s their way to express creativity where it would be lost otherwise, and I have to agree. I love capturing the world through my eyes. Anyone who knows me knows that I love to document things that happen in my life. Photography has proven to be the perfect outlet for me.

I also love to read. I will read almost any book, so long as it doesn’t bore me. I’ve been reading almost non-stop lately. It’s pretty much the most energy that I’m willing to exert lately.

Family is big with me. My family is everything, and although some components of my family are unfortunately M.I.A., those of us who are pulling through are doing so with the love and support of each other. I couldn’t ask for a better family. My husband and children are absolutely everything.

I’ll probably rant and rave here. Mostly useless crap, like how Apple is the shit – once you go Mac, you’ll never go back; and I’ll probably explain why Weeds is the best show on TV.

Quoting my husband on our very first date, “If nothing else, it’s gonna be interesting!”
